Cast: Johnny Knoxville, Travis Pastrana, Mat Hoffman, Trigger Gumm, Jeff Schneider
Rating: Not Rated
Studio: MTV/Paramount
Release Date: May 27, 2008
I remember back in the day when MTV presented music. It was in the golden ages, back when the closest thing to a music interruption on the channel was the pop culture oriented, totally awesome game show, Remote Control. Today is a different day though. We are bombarded with bad reality television (Tila Tequila, anyone) and things that are far from music oriented…like this. Presented by the crew that brought you Jackass, this DVD pays homage, according to them, to the great stunt man, Evel Knievel.
Personally, I find Jackass to be pointless. I get that the first one was amusing. I mean, I didn’t see it that way myself, but I get that others liked it. However, there was no need for a Jackass 2.5, or anything presented by them in any capacity. It just seems like with every Jackass movie in the lineup, people like them less and less. Well hopefully this 45 minute flick will do them in and save me the trouble of having to review more drivel.
Release Information:
Mat Hoffman is a BMX star who obviously likes Evel Knievel. Most stunt guys like Evel because he was always the best back in the day. He’s a name that everyone knows whether they are into that sort of thing or not. Hoffman, on the other hand, is mostly known through Jackass and the assorted junk that the team has done. Why MTV put this out, I may never know. Perhaps they were looking to get rid of some money or they felt it important to give to charity and they chose the wrong one.

Want a nice, frank conversation? Corner Greg Rucka and pick a subject. He is anything but restrained, speaking freely and constantly exuding the kind of creative flashpoint from which arises his fascinating array of benchmark characters.
Raised on California’s Central Coast, and schooled at Vassar College and USC, Rucka brings a street sensibility to his work – which has ranged from nearly a dozen novels and several short stories to a daunting list of comics, non-fiction essays and, now, a segment of the highly-anticipated animated film, “Batman Gotham Knight.”
“Batman Gotham Knight,” the third film in the ongoing series of DC Universe animated original PG-13 movies, will arrive July 8, 2008 on DVD and Blu-Ray disc, and will also be available that day On Demand via digital cable and for download through broadband sites. The film is produced as a collaboration between DC Comics, Warner Premiere, Warner Home Video and Warner Bros. Animation.
If you want to read a great Greg Rucka biography, or two, go to his website. It’s worth the trip. What you won’t read there is the following Q&A … and if you like that, there’s even more interesting information, images, shout-outs and a brand new widget at the film’s official website.
Question:
As this is your first time writing for animation, how did you feel about the translation of your words to the screen?
Greg Rucka answers:
It was dynamite, especially the final sequences of my segment. It was almost exactly what I was going for. What was really cool was to hear Kevin Conroy say stuff that I typed. I’ve written some screen stuff before, but I haven’t written Batman for the screen before. That’s cool on one level. But I love those Alan Burnett-Bruce Timm-Paul Dini animated series – I thought it was revolutionary – and Kevin was central to that.

LOGO GREENLIGHTS SEASON TWO OF EXES AND OHS WITH SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM STARS MICHELLE PARADISE AND MARNIE ALTON
Greenlight news comes on heels of release of Exes and Ohs: The Complete First Season DVD
New York, NY – May 21, 2008 – Through a special video message posted by Exes and Ohs stars Michelle Paradise and Marnie Alton at Logo’s AfterEllen.com, Logo today announced the greenlight of season two of Exes and Ohs, the first-ever scripted comedy about lesbian friends and relationships for a basic cable channel. The eight-episode, half-hour scripted series – based on the short film The Ten Rules: A Lesbian Survival Guide –will premiere in early 2009.
The announcement, made by series creator and star Michelle Paradise and co-star Marnie Alton, is now available for viewing at AfterEllen.com, the nation’s top-ranked lesbian-themed website, which helped propel Exes and Ohs’ first season success through video blogs about the show and a powerful community of fans who shared in the show’s experience. The news was announced on the heels of the availability of Exes and Ohs: The Complete First Season DVD at retail stores and at the shop at LOGOonline.com.
Exes and Ohs follows the adventures of Jennifer (Michelle Paradise), a documentary filmmaker and her search for Ms. Right, telling the story of lesbian survival in life and love in Seattle, WA. Jennifer tries to keep up with the high-drama dating world, fulfill her creative ambitions, avoid the danger of professional and romantic complacency and embrace the “rules” of lesbian life, love and community.
Jennifer is surrounded by a group of close and diverse friends: Sam (Marnie Alton), was Jennifer’s first love but is now her fun-loving, commitment-phobic ex-girlfriend; long-time partners in love and business Chris (Megan Cavanagh) and Kris (Angela Featherstone) are trying to run a home-based pet accessory enterprise while overrun by pets with whom they’re too in love to give up for adoption.

Move over The L Word because Logo’s new lesbian-driven series Exes & Ohs is set to give the popular Showtime drama a run for its money. Sure, Logo is a much newer network and Exes & Ohs only had six episodes during its first season run, but fans seem receptive to this new show because it seems more real to them.
This witty take on the lesbian life is garnering a fan base that has fans clamoring for a second season. While only six episodes were produced for the first season, the network hasn’t yet decided on whether a second season is in Logo’s best interest or not. I’m hoping it does return because I really was able to get into this show a lot more than I thought I would!
Release Information:
Exes & Ohs debuted on Logo (Showcase in Canada) on October 8, 2007. The show was based on the short, The Ten Rules: A Lesbian Survival Guide, which was made by the writer, producer, and star of Exes & Ohs, Michelle Paradise. The show had a six episode first season and as I previously mentioned, it is still in discussion as to whether a second season will be produced.
Exes & Ohs: The Complete First Season was just released on May 20, 2008, through MTV (Paramount), Logo’s parent company. The DVD is available both online and off at a selection of retailers. At Amazon, you can pick up a copy of Exes & Ohs: The Complete First Season for $16.99.
