Robot ChickenFrom a Galaxy Far, Far Away Comes the DVD Debut of a Stop-Motion Tribute to One of the Greatest Pop Culture Phenomena of All Time

Robot Chicken: STAR WARS™

Featuring the Voices of STAR WARS Creator George Lucas and Guests Conan O’Brien, Seth MacFarlane, Hulk Hogan and More; Special Bonus-Laden DVD Arrives on July 22nd

In homage to one of the biggest adventure sagas in cinematic history, Adult Swim über-creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich incorporated tons of plastic action figures, brilliant execution of stop-motion animation and a touch of the Force to create the Robot Chicken: STAR WARS special — and now it makes its way to a bonus-feature filled DVD from Warner Home Video and Adult Swim on July 22nd.

Brazenly combining the satirical style of Green and Senreich’s Stoopid Monkey Productions and the creative team at ShadowMachine, headed by Alex Bulkley and Corey Campodonico, and inspired by the unforgettable moments and favorite characters of the Star Wars galaxy, the Robot Chicken: STAR WARS special intertwines the staples of George Lucas’s universe with “yo’ momma” battles, spoofs on George Dubya, and besotted fanboys. Green directed the special, which earned him this year’s Annie Award for Directing in an Animated TV Production. It’s everything the fans have come to expect of the hit television series and more. So very much more.

To pull off this parody, the Emmy® winning Robot Chicken guys enlisted the help of big Hollywood names, former boy-band members and even George Lucas himself. In addition to Lucas’s cameo appearance in a hilarious fan-convention scene, other celebrities voices include: Conan O’Brien, Seth MacFarlane, Malcolm McDowell, Hulk Hogan, James Van Der Beek, Robert Smigel, Donald Faison, Abraham Benrubi, co-writer Breckin Meyer and Joey Fatone.

The Robot Chicken: STAR WARS DVD will be available for the suggested retail price of $14.97 and boasts a wide range of bonus features including:

Chicken Nuggets (Sketch by Sketch Video Commentary)
Animation Meeting
On-Air Bumps
Trailers
Behind-the-Scenes Featurette

Production Design Featurette
Episode Commentary - more than two hours

Robot Chicken: STAR WARS was created and executive produced by Green and Senreich under their own Stoopid Monkey Productions, in conjunction with Alex Bulkley and Corey Campodonico’s ShadowMachine. The special debuted on Adult Swim in June 2007.

The duo also executive produce, write (with head writers Doug Goldstein and Tom Root) and direct (with Chris McKay) the series, with Green providing many of the voices in both the special and the series, which is currently finishing up its third season on Adult Swim. Since debuting on the network in February 2005, Robot Chicken consistently ranks as one of the highest rated in the programming block and in 2007 the show was nominated for an Emmy® Award for Outstanding Animated Program. In addition to Green’s Annie Award for Directing, the television series won an Annie Award for character animation.

Adult Swim ended 2007 as the #1 network in total day delivery of key young adults among ad-supported basic cable, according to data from Nielsen Media Research. The late-night network outdistanced its own record-setting performances in 2005 and 2006 with the best total day delivery in basic cable history among adults 18-34 (433,000) and men 18-34 (273,000), representing 8% and 13% growth, respectively, vs. 2006. Robot Chicken topped the network’s 2007 ratings and delivery charts, earning an average delivery of 600,000 adults 18-34.
