The following summary takes place between 10:00 PM and 11:00 PM on the show “24.”

[eminimall products="24, FOX, tv show" height="600" width="120"]

Sentences were written in real-time.

-Lennox urges the President to call off the missile citing that Fayed’s actions were not state sponsored but Palmer remains undeterred.

-With 4 minutes left to impact, the foreign ambassador calls the President with new information about a General Mohmar Habib who has been coordinating with Fayed.

-After confirming his suspicion that the ambassador has known about the General for some time, Palmer calls off the attack and demands a dossier on the General and total access and cooperation with his government.

-Palmer reveals to Lennox and Hayes that the missile that he launched was an unarmed one and was merely a bluff to coerce the ambassador.

-Bauer’s interrogation of Fayed is proving to go nowhere when he receives the update on General Habib and devise a new plan despite Habib not knowing the location of the bombs.

-Lennox apologizes to President Palmer for doubting his strength and his decision-making and Palmer lets Lennox know that he knows that he has something on Vice President Daniels.

-Jack is transporting Fayed back to CTU for a more thorough interrogation when an armored car crashes into them and armed men take down Doyle and Jack and rescue Fayed.

-As soon as the armored car is out of sight, Jack calls Buchanan and tells them that the cover team picked up Fayed and they’re beginning to follow them.

-When the cover team claims they were sent to recover Fayed under Habib’s orders, Fayed demands to speak to the General before leading them to the safe house.

-Buchanan briefs the President and asks that he implore the ambassador to arrange the phone call between Habib and Fayed.

-The ambassador informs the President of Habib’s lack of cooperation throughout his interrogation to which Palmer suggest threatening Habib’s family to get the desired result.

-Milo angrily expresses his confusion about Nadia’s sudden change in attitude towards Doyle before Morris diffuses the situation.

-The call between Habib and Fayed takes place and Fayed is convinced enough to begin leading them towards the safe house.

-Palmer, upon hearing of the success of the phone call, sends the ambassador back to his embassy despite previously asking him to stay throughout this crisis and collapses when he is sure he is out of the room.

-After analyzing the transcripts, Nadia suspects that there was a way that Habib tipped off Fayed that he was speaking under duress.

-Jack tries to warn the team inside the armored car but is cut off when the car enters a tunnel.

-Finding that the car has stopped midway in the tunnel and the team was killed, Jack follows a trail to Fayed and sneaks onboard a sanitation truck he took to escape.

-Jack tries to tell CTU of his whereabouts but cannot get the message through.

-The doctor, observing the President’s drop in blood pressure, insists that he be taken down to medical but Palmer refuses saying that he needs to get back to work.

-Jack follows Fayed into the safe house and initiates a firefight once he confirms that the last two bombs are there.

-After a brutal hand-to-hand fight, Jack ties Fayed up with a series of chains and lifts him up on the winch choking him to death.

-Doyle and the rest of his team arrive on the scene and tell CTU that the bombs are secure.

-Jack receives a call through the CTU switchboard from Audrey Raines who asks for his help.

-Cheng, the Chinese official who had Jack arrested and released earlier today, tells Jack that if he wants to see Audrey alive again to call him from a secure line in ten minutes.

Okay, so the good news is that Fayed has been stopped, the bombs are secure and Audrey is alive. The bad news is that we still have seven more hours to go, the larger threat has just revealed itself and Audrey might not stay alive for much longer. What does this mean for the audience of 24? One hell of a final act in an already great season. It needs to be next Monday already.

TV Recap: Lost “Left Behind” 4/4/07

April 5, 2007

Fileplanet (IGN Entertainment)

Kate, still prisoner of the Others, sits patiently in her makeshift holding cell until she notices a figure pass the window. Immediately, she gets up and runs next to the door with a pool stick in her hand getting ready to strike whoever may be coming in. The door opens and Kate swings. But her visitor ducks the attack and subdues Kate in a matter of seconds. Juliet looks down at Kate half-surprised at what transpired and tells her that she was just bringing her something to eat, which is now all over the floor. With not much else to say, Juliet leaves her in pain on the floor.

[eminimall products="Lost, DVD, tv show, ABC" height="600" width="120"]

Flashing back, we see Kate on the side of the road, having her car towed on a country road. The mechanic, Johnny, tells her that it’s going to be about two or three days to get a new fan belt. Driving her back into the station, she gets out of the truck and sees a women selling jewelry getting called a scam artist. The woman is Cassidy, Sawyer’s former fling and mark of one of his long cons. When an onlooker threatens to call the cops, Kate steps forward saying that her father owned a jewelry store and she can spot a fake and buys one of the necklaces. The onlookers walk away either satisfied or dismissive and the situation is diffused. Cassidy thanks her and they each give each other back the money and the jewelry. Curious, Cassidy asks her why she helped to which Kate replies “just one girl watching another girls back.” But Cassidy sees through this and figures she’s stranded and didn’t want the man to call the cops. Cassidy returns the favor by driving her into down for a drink.

Kate sits bored and defeated when someone walks in. It’s Locke who comes in not to help her, but to say goodbye. He tells her that he’s leaving with the Others and that she, Jack and Sayid are going to have to stay behind. Thinking that he’s brainwashed, Kate tells him not to trust them and that they’re lying if they say they’re sending him home. Locke simply says that he doesn’t want to go home and says that he made a strong case for Kate but forgiveness isn’t their strong point, especially with her past. As he starts to leave, she tries to ask him where the rest of their group are but Locke only says sorry before leaving her.

On the beach, Sawyer sits in his usually reading position when Hurley gets his attention by kicking his foot. Wondering what the hell is up, Hurley tells him to shut up and pretend like they’re not talking. Explaining further, he says that there’s been talk about banishing Sawyer after the whole situation with Nikki and Paulo but tells him that there’s a way he might fix it. Laughing it off, Sawyer tells him that he doesn’t do amends. The point then gets brought up that the island community affords Sawyer many luxuries and necessities that he wouldn’t be able to have on his own. He ignores this however and cleverly uses adjectives such as “rotund” and “annoying” to get around his nickname ban. Hurley walks away saying that he’s making a big mistake.

Kate, noticing the sandwich on the ground, ignores the flies and starts eating it when she hears a commotion outside. She watches as the Others begin gathering outside all packed up and putting on gas masks. Before she can see anything more, a canister is tossed inside the room and the door locked from the outside. Kate tries to get out of the room filling with gas but is unconscious within a few moments.

At the bar, Cassidy and “Lucy” begin small talk, which grows into a discussion of how they got involved in their shared criminal lifestyle. After explaining what she did to her stepfather, she tells Cassidy that she’s in Iowa to talk to her mother. Seeing the bigger picture, Cassidy points out that the cops are going to be watching her closely in order to get to Kate and offers her help. Kate asks why she would help her out and Cassidy tells her about how she was conned by a “bad guy” like her stepfather. She goes on to say that she’ll help her because one of them deserves something good.

Kate wakes up in the jungle. Trying to get her bearings, she sits up and quickly notices that she’s not alone. Handcuffed to her, is an unconscious Juliet.

Sawyer stands on the edge of the beach, fishing pole in hand, trying to prove he can fend for himself. Further down, Jin and Sun are doing the same but Sawyer’s attempt at a kind smile isn’t returned by Sun. Amazingly, Sawyer manages to catch a fish but has obvious trouble trying to gut and prepare it. It doesn’t take long for him to approach Hurley to start the peacemaking process. After laughing about his failed attempt to gut fish, Hurley asks Sawyer to apologize for all the name-calling he’s gotten in the past. And though he finds it uncomfortable and against his character, Sawyer manages to suck it up and apologize asking Hurley what he has to do next.

Back in the jungle, Kate notices a knife clipped to Juliet’s pocket. Taking extreme caution not to rouse her, Kate takes the knife but as soon as she opens it, Juliet snaps awake and grabs her arm. When it becomes clear that neither of them know how they got where they are, Juliet lets go and Kate starts trying to pick her handcuff. Kate fills her in on what little she knows; that the Others packed up and left and that her friends are probably gassed and left behind at their village and that they have to go back to get them. When Juliet tries to get more information regarding Locke and the Other’s destination, Kate smiles and says, “Welcome to the wonderful world of not knowing what the hell is going on.”

Flashing back, a woman approaches an apartment door dragging a case behind her. Kate’s mother answers the door and US Marshals immediately take her down and into custody with Agent Mars on point. But as soon as he takes her sunglasses off, it turns out to be Cassidy wearing a wig and claiming to be selling bibles. Kate watches all of this go down with a pair of binoculars from a safe distance. Some time later, Cassidy comes back to the motel room her and Kate are staying at and mentions how severe her interrogation was and how it’s going to be either her or Mars next time they meet. Kate tells her that she can back out if she thinks it’s too risky.

Still wanting to help, Cassidy only asks to know the reason she wants to see her mother since she’s lying to federal agents. Opening up, Kate reveals how she tried to protect her mom from her abusive husband and set her up for life with the insurance policy she took out on the house before she blew it up. And despite doing all of that for her, she was still given up by her mother so she wants to know why she was betrayed by the person she loves. Cassidy, satisfied with the answer, says that they’re going to find out.

Kate and Juliet start following the trail back to the barracks when Juliet wonders if they should wait until morning, since it’s about to rain. Sternly, Kate says no and pulls Juliet along. After walking along with an awkward silence, Kate begins to ask why they would handcuff the two of them together and leave them in the jungle. Juliet replies that Ben has a thing for mind games.

It starts to rain and Kate tells her to pick up the pace so they don’t lose the trail. But before moving any further, she tells Kate that she hopes she’s not going all the way back there just for Jack. She says that she was with him when he told Kate not to come back and that she ruined his chances for getting off the island. Juliet doesn’t get another word out before being punched by Kate. The two fight and Kate ends up dislocating her shoulder. Snapping back to her senses, she tries to apologize but the sound of the monster roars through the jungle. Fear grips Kate as Juliet yells, “What the hell was that?”

Pulling Juliet along, Kate runs and finds shelter inside a tree. Juliet tries to ask again what it is that they’re running from but Kate quickly covers her mouth. The monster draws closer and its roars menacing until it is right in front of the tree. Suddenly, it flashes strange light on them and makes an even stranger sound before quickly vanishing. Juliet asks if they’re safe. Kate replies, “You tell me.”

At the camp, Sawyer moves on to the next person to make nice with: Claire. Hurley tells him how Claire is influential and could sway the other castaways if he gets on her good side. Sawyer initially wonders why she wouldn’t vote for him since he didn’t do anything bad to her but Hurley is quick to point out that he didn’t do anything good for her either. Open to suggestions, Sawyer is told to show an interest in Aaron, say something nice and give her a blanket for the baby. And after a slightly awkward exchange, Hurley confirms Sawyer’s good job with a thumbs up.

Back at the tree, Juliet’s questions about the monster stir some suspicion in Kate. Juliet tells her that if she doesn’t believe her, she can pull out her other shoulder. Repositioning herself, Juliet asks for Kate’s hand to help put her shoulder back in place. Kate refuses but Juliet says that it’s her fault just like it’s her fault that she’s not on her way home. Agitated by this remark, Kate shouts back that Jack told her not to come back for her protection. However, Juliet clarifies that they had cameras on the cages, that Jack saw Kate and Sawyer together and told her what he did because she broke his heart. It’s only after hearing this that she helps her shoulder and Juliet lets out a scream.

Elsewhere, Desmond is hunting boar with Sawyer when he starts to wonder what angle he has in this since Sawyer’s barely said a word to him. Being honest, he tells him that he’s got to change people’s minds and to do that, he’s got to give them what they want: meat. After admitting the truth, it isn’t long before they snag a boar to bring back to camp.

Kate wakes up, asks Juliet how her shoulder is, and starts to head out again.

Cassidy sits in a diner with another disguise when Kate’s mother brings her order over. When she comes back towards the table again, though, Cassidy “accidentally” spills her soup on Mrs. Austen and apologizes profusely. Kindly, she mentions that it happens all the time and walks off to clean up. In the women’s room, Kate shows herself and tries to start as normal a conversation as possible.

Her mother isn’t having it however and demands to know what she’s doing here. Getting straight to the point, she asks her why she turned in her daughter. The answer shocks Kate as her mother tells her that she loved her husband despite everything and what she had done was horrible. Kate tries to explain that she did it for her but Mrs. Austen says that she did it for herself. About the only kindness Kate is shown is that her mother says that she won’t tell the agents outside that she’s here but she most certainly call for help if she ever sees her again. Her mother gets back to work and leaves Kate crying in the bathroom.

Walking out to a more open area, Kate asks Juliet if Jack really said that she broke his heart to which Juliet says that he didn’t have to. Kate tries to tell Juliet that she doesn’t know anything about Jack but Juliet rattles off a short list of all the detailed information that she does know about him and asks Kate what she knows about Jack. After pausing for a moment, Kate brushes this off and tells her to keep moving. Suddenly, the familiar sounds of the monster return and they are running for their lives again. Another obstacle is presented, however, when they reach the sonic fence system. They both get caught up in a mix up of what they should do when Juliet, knowing the threat is approaching quickly, reaches into her pocket and pulls out the key to the handcuffs.

Uncuffing herself, Juliet runs to a panel on the fence, enters a code and flips a switch. She shouts to Kate to get on the other side of the fence and turns the switch back when she is. The monster emerges from the ground and heads straight towards them but when it reaches the fence line, it can’t go any farther and scurries away as though in pain. Understandably angry, Kate approaches Juliet who quickly says that they don’t know what the monster is but they know it doesn’t like their fences. But Kate is more interested in the fact that Juliet had the key the entire time. Juliet tries to explain that the people she spent three years with left her behind and she figured if she made Kate think that they were in it together, she wouldn’t be left behind again. Still upset, Kate snatches the key, throws off the handcuffs and starts walking again.

Beachside, the banquet of boar is a success with Charlie congratulating Sawyer for the delicious meal. Sawyer is quick to tell Charlie to remember his gratitude at the meeting later but Charlie says he has no idea what he’s talking about. Feeling frustrated about being duped, Sawyer goes to Hurley to get some answers. Explaining his motives, Hurley said that with Jack, Kate, Locke and Sayid gone, they need a temporary leader and Sawyer was all they had. So this was all preparation for his new position and learning how to make people happy and forget their worries.

Sawyer: “And what if I don’t want to be the leader?”
Hurley: “Yeah, well, I don’t think Jack wanted to either. Sucks for you, dude.”

Finally reaching the barracks, Juliet tells Kate that she’ll go get Sayid and that Kate should get Jack. Waking Jack up, Kate tells him how the Others are all gone and that it’s because of her. Tearfully, she says how she tried to help him but that he didn’t need any and now he can’t go home because of her. Jack seemingly brushes off her heartfelt apology and continues to wrap his head around the current situation, asking if Juliet left with them. Kate tells him that she was left behind too. After a pause, Kate wonders what the next move is which Jack simply says is to go back.

Flashing back for the last time, we see Kate being dropped off at her fixed up car and thanking Cassidy for all her help. Kate then offers to return the favor by tracking down the man who conned her out of her life savings. But Cassidy reveals that she’s pregnant with his child and she still loves him. Kate still suggests calling the cops on him but Cassidy asks Kate if she’ll ever forgive her mother for calling the cops, which Kate never will. As they part ways, Kate gives her true name and thanks her again.

With everyone reunited, Sayid informs Jack that all the houses are empty and there’s no trace of them at all. They begin to head off back to their beach when Sayid raises an objection to Juliet coming with them. Back in leader-mode, Jack says that she is because they left her behind as well.

OH, THE DRAMA! Kate not only feels betrayed by Locke and left behind by friends, now she feels responsible for everything going wrong, has a new rival in Juliet and might be losing Jack. Definitely liked the parallel storytelling with Kate and Cassidy teaming up in the flashback and Kate and Juliet struggling to work together on the island. Nice to see the monster again as well as is a slightly new and improved Sawyer in the making. But the best thing to come from this episode is that the majority of the cast will finally be reunited, which means the mix of stories will work a lot smoother. Still gotta wonder what Locke is up to though. But maybe next week.

TV Recap - Lost “Exposé” 3/28/07

March 29, 2007

Preorder Kidz Bop 14 - only at MusicSpace.com!

Starting the episode with the all too familiar chase music, we see Nikki running through the jungle. Is she running from something or someone? Is she trying to warn everybody else of danger? It’s not clear yet but she appears to have something so important that she stops quickly to bury it in the dirt.

[eminimall products="tv, lost, dvd" height="600" width="120"]

Flashing back to a strip club, we see Nikki come down the stairs and be introduced as Corvette before beginning her routine. While she is strutting her stuff on stage, she notices a suspicious looking man with a briefcase make his way to the back of the club. Investigating, she walks into her boss’s office and witnesses the exchange of money. Noting that this was supposed to be the money for the orphanage she quickly deciphers that her boss, Mr. LaShade must be “The Cobra” (um,….what?). The man with the briefcase draws his gun but “Corvette” kicks the gun out of his hand while shouting “Razzle-dazzle” (…oooooooookay).

But Mr. LaShade shoots Corvette in the chest three times, leaving her dead on the floor. That’s when someone yells, “cut” and everything is revealed to be a scene for a TV show called “Exposé.” Nikki is congratulated for her work on the show and the director walks her out trying to think of a way to bring her back next season. Respectfully, she declines but says that she’s staying in Sydney because she loves him. They kiss.

Back on the island, Sawyer tells Hurley that now they’re going best of seven in ping-pong when they hear something from the jungle. Nikki, clumsily stumbles onto the beach before collapsing. When Hurley asks her what happened, she only makes out a fragmented phrase. Sawyer tells Hurley to get help while he looks through the jungle but Hurley says it’s too late: Nikki’s dead.

Sawyer: “Who the hell is Nikki?”

84 Days Ago- Nikki and the director, Howie, sit at the dinner table. When Nikki compliments the meal, he tells her it’s his new chef, Paulo, who he calls in to introduce. She thanks him for the excellent meal and playfully tells him he should ask for a raise before he returns to the kitchen. Howie goes on to tell her how Paulo showed his persistence for working for him until he got hired as he passes her the breadbasket.

As she takes a roll, she sees the diamond bracelet that was put there as a gift for her to find. But before he can say anything, he suddenly has what appears to be a heart attack. Nikki calls Paulo in for help but, after feeling his pulse, says that he’s already gone. Reaching out to him, she opens up his shirt and grabs a key he wore around his neck. Making their way to a back room, Paulo asks Nikki if anyone else knows about this hidden safe and she reassures him that it’s off the books. Paulo goes to light up a cigarette but is quickly stopped because ashes are evidence. Using the key, Nikki opens up the safe and takes the matryoshka doll inside and smiles when she sees what’s hidden inside of it.

Saywer, Hurley, Chalrie, Jin and Sun are gathered around Nikki’s body trying to make sense of what happened. They deduce that since she has no visible marks or wounds that it’s possible she could have been poisoined and should check the food supply. Charlie points out that she has dirt under her fingernails. And Hurley, thinking about her last words, realizes that she said “Paulo lies.” Sawyer suggests that they try to get the answers from him.

80 Days Ago- Siting in an airporst restaurant, Paulo reads to Nikki the newspaper article on Howie’s death, saying that he died of heart failure. Laughing about it, they kiss and Nikki notices that he’s chewing gum. He admits to her that he’s quitting smoking and using nicotine gum. They raise their champagne glasses and toast to their new future together. Overhearing a loud argument, they turn and notice Shannon and Boone trying to find a seat. Calmly suggesting to borrow a seat from the restaurant, he asks Paulo if they could use the spare seat from their table. Paulo is about to oblige him but Shannon just yells and says to Boone that they should leave. Boone thanks Paulo anyway and they leave in as much of a scene as they came in. Nikki makes Paulo promise that they’ll never end up like that, which he does and they kiss again.

Suddenly, we’re on the beach at the site of the plane crash. Distraght, Nikki searches through the wreckage trying to find Paulo. She thinks she finds him but it is only Dr. Arzt. Moving on, she is approached by Boone who hastily asks her for a pen. It is then that she sees Paulo standing at the edge of the beach looking out at the ocean. Running up to him, she emotionally asks him if he’s okay. Though in a daze, Paulo tells her that he thinks that he’s okay. Showing extreme concern, she tells him to look at her and when he does she sternly asks him “Where’s the bag?”

Jin, Sawyer and Hurley make their way through the jungle trying to follow what little trail they have when Jin find Paulo lying on the ground, wide-eyed and expressionless. They make the following observations: he has no marks on him exactly like Nikki, his pants are undone and his shoe is stuck in a tree a few yards out. Jin finds water in Paulo’s pack which Sawyer quickly grabs and dumps out of the bottle, despite Hurley claiming that it’s “messing up the crime scene.” Before Sawyer can offer much of a rebuttal, Jin stops them and simply says “monster.”

75 Days Ago- Paulo and Nikki are discussing the sounds they heard coming through the jungle and if it is a monster or not. Nikki, thinking that the Coast Guard is coming soon, says that they need to focus and find the script bag before they’re rescued. A man approaches overhearing their conversation and offers to help them find anything that they might need from the clothes stash. He introduces himself as Ethan and Nikki thanks him and lies saying that they’re looking for Paulo’s nicotine gum. Cleverly, Ethan suggests that they might have better luck finding it in the jungle since the plane split in two. Just then, the near riot over Boone taking the water takes place which leads into Jack’s infamous “live together, die alone” speech.

Bringing Paulo’s body back to the beach, Hurley says that he agrees with Jin about it being the monster, basing it on Eko’s last words of “You’re next” and Nikki and Paulo being there. Sawyer disagrees and says that they need to find out whatever they can about these two to find out what happened and starts to head to their tent.

57 Days Ago- Nikki pays a visit to Dr. Arzt in his tent, where he’s catalouging all the new species of insects he’s found, making particular note of the dangerous Medusa spider he’s found. He even tells her about the spiders powerful phermones to attract the males and makes the comparison to the spider and Nikki. Falling for her coyness, Arzt puts a hold on what he’s doing to help Nikki. She figures that since he’s a teacher/scientist, he knows enough about trajectories to help her find her luggage in the jungle. Happy to help, he draws her up a map and Nikki and Paulo head inland. On their way, they not only find the crashed Beechcraft plane but the door to the Pearl station.

Paulo is eager to investigate the hatch but Nikki sarcastically remarks how the script bag couldn’t have crash landed there, found the door, opened it up and dropped down there. They continue moving on their path.

Investigating their tent, they find that they had Arzt’s collection of bugs when Chalie appraoches to tell them that the food supply is fine. Looking in a bag, Charlie finds a script for “Exposé,” which Hurley fills them in on since he was a fan. But the biggest discovery is when Sawyer finds a working walkie-talkie they were holding out on. Sawyer also notes that the Others had ones exactly like that one on the other side of the island and that Nikki and Paulo must have been working with them.

48 Days Ago- Shannon and Arzt are in a debate with Kate about the recent discovery of the gun case when Nikki and Paulo overhear and become interested in where they found it. At the waterfall, they get into an argument which prompts Paulo to ask Nikki if they would still be together if she didn’t need him to find the bag. She just simply tells him that it’s 8 million dollars and to just dive in. Looking around underwater, Paulo does find the script bag but when he surfaces he lies and says that there’s nothing down there but dead bodies. And when Nikki walks away frustrated, Paulo dives down again.

Regrouping, the team of CSI: The Island (Sawyer, Hurley, Charlie, Jin and Sun) begin to think out the connection between Nikki/Paulo and the Others. When Hurley questions the connection since they’re on the other side of the island, Sun reminds everyone of the time that she was grabbed and pulled into the jungle. Charlie and Sawyer exhange an awkward glance when Sawyer takes out a gun and goes to do a “perimeter sweep.” Hurley makes his suspicions known when he asks Sawyer where he got the gun and when he was going to tell the rest of them. He gruffly replies that he got it off of one of the Others and supposes he was going to tell them right now. Sun and Charlie begin to cover the bodies.

32 Days Ago- Paulo takes a piece of his nicotine gum as he begins to dig a hole in the sand. When Locke approaches him and asks him what he’s doing, he hides the doll behind him and claims he’s doing nothing. Surprisingly (or maybe not), Locke doesn’t pry any further, instead saying that everyone’s entitled to their secrets but advises him that things don’t stay buried here and to pick a spot where the tide won’t get to whatever he’s burying. Taking Locke’s advice, Paulo ventures down into the Pearl station and finds the bathroom.

He hides the doll inside the top of the toilet when suddenly voices are heard. It’s Ben and Juliet. Turning on one of the monitors, they look to see Jack on the screen and Juliet says that he’ll never get him to do the surgery. Ben begs to differ saying that he will exploit what he’s emotionally invested in, exactly how he gets everyone else to do what he wants. After explaining that he’ll use Micheal to bring Jack, Kate and Sawyer to them, they both leave and Paulo takes the walkie talkie that was left behind.

Seeking supernatural help, Hurley asks Desmond if he’s “seen” anything. He explains that he can only see flashes and doesn’t know anything except that Sawyer was talking with Nikki right before she died. Hurley says that Sawyer didn’t know her to which Desmond wonders why she was yelling at him then.

Relaying his new discovery to Charlie and Sun, Hurley says that they have to start wondering what angle Sawyer might have in possibly killing Nikki and Paulo. Sun, however, insists that Sawyer isn’t a murderer and that it has to be the Others. When Hurley goes to get Desmond to clarify everything, Charlie confesses to Sun that it was him that pulled her into the jungle and not the Others. He explains how Sawyer told him how he could get even with Locke if he helped him steal the guns and that he didn’t mean to hurt her. Sun walks away without saying a word.

9 Days Ago- Recreating the time when Nikki and Paulo went with Locke and the others to the Pearl station, we now see what Paulo was really doing in the bathroom: taking out what was hidden in the doll out of fear of Nikki finding it. After breaking it open, he takes the small black sack and puts it down his pants. Covering up why he was in there, he flushes and tell the rest of them that the toilet still works.

At “Boone Hill,” they’re preparing the graves when Sawyer approaches. Taking authority, Hurley demands that Sawyer give him the gun. Sawyer takes out the clip to show him that the gun isn’t even loaded which backfires when Hurley asks him how he could have swept the perimeter with an empty gun. Asked point blank if he killed them, Sawyer says that he didn’t and that Nikki fought with him this morning because she wanted a gun. Answering why he didn’t say this before, he said because he suspected she was digging something before she died because of the dirt under her nails and wanted to see what was so important to bury before you die. Surprisingly, Sawyer tosses the black sack he found to Sun, who opens it to find diamonds, telling her to keep them because he had nothing to do with killing Nikki and Paulo.

12 Hours Ago- Nikki sits sad on the beach when Paulo meets up with her. Upset with the realization that they may never be rescued, Nikki is comforted by Paulo who says that it’s all about how you look at things, mentioning the bag as an example: if they had found it, it might have torn them apart. Nikki agrees and feels much better from his kind words as Paulo goes to get them some breakfast. Her happiness doesn’t last long however, when she finds a packet of nicotine gum next to her on the beach. Visibly angry, she approaches Sawyer and demands a gun. Sawyer claims he doesn’t have any and said he wouldn’t anyway based on how mad she is. Nikki thanks him for nothing and storms off. Sawyer shouts out “And who the hell are you?” before he goes back to reading.

The sun goes up to Sawyer who is continuing the work started on the graves and confronts him about the “kidnapping” plan. Wondering if she is going to tell Jin, Sawyer is told that she won’t because then they’d have to dig another grave. Sun gives Sawyer the diamonds back saying that they’re worthless on the island and catches him off guard with a slap to the face before walking away. Later, at the funeral, Hurley does his best to say a few words of respect for the dead. Right before they start to fill the grave, Sawyer stops them and scatters the diamonds on both of them telling them to rest in peace.

8 Hours Ago- Pretending to bring him to a “surprise,” Nikki lures Paulo into the jungle to confront him about the diamonds. After Paulo tries to play dumb, Nikki tells him to give them to her. Paulo tries to explain himself but Nikki grabs a container, unscrews the top and throws the contents at him. It was one of Arzt’s Medusa spiders. Nikki starts to explain how it got it’s name: it causes severe paralysis for about 8 hours, much like Medusa’s stare could turn a man to stone. Feeling the effects, Paulo collapses on the ground and Nikki begins to search for the diamonds on his person. She checks his shoes and throws them in a nearby tree before finding them in his pants.

Tearfully, Paulo tells her that he was afraid that if she found the diamonds, she wouldn’t need him anymore. Nikki is taken aback by this revelation. So much so that she doesn’t notice the swarm of male spiders crawling their way towards her. Paulo tries to warn her with his eyes but one bites her on the leg. Realizing what happened, she runs off to get help but not before burying the diamonds. Running into Sawyer and Hurley and collapsing on the beach, she tries to tell them “I’m paralyzed.”

Back at the funeral, Sawyer and Hurley begin filling up the graves with the shovels as the crowd disperses. They continue to shovel the dirt in. And just before her face gets covered, Nikki opens her eyes. This remains unnoticed, however, and Nikki and Paulo, the ones that not many of the survivors (or the audience) knew too well, are buried alive.

This is why I watch this show. The plain and simple truth is that the people responsible for putting this show together are absolute genius’s of storytelling and structure and “Exposé” showcases it greatly. Firstly, this is an extremely rare instance where an episode of “Lost” tackles one mystery and solves it in it’s entirety in just one shot. Not only that but it was handled with so many interesting twists and turns that played nicely with the audience (the reveal of the tacky “Exposé” was priceless). Also, having the two most hated characters on the show get their own episode and have it kick this much ass shows so much style and class on the part of the producers. It allows the haters to either keep hating them and pleased that they’re now dead or change their minds and say “they weren’t so bad.” Absolutley knocked it out of the park. Keep it up, please!

March 28, 2007

The following summary takes place between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM on the show 24.

Sentences were written in real-time.

[eminimall products="24, Kiefer Sutherland" height="600" width="120"]

- Shortly after learning of the drone’s radiation leak, Jack is approached by a medic who informs him that the drone’s pilot, the only lead to finding Gredenko, died.

- Checking in at CTU, Jack is told by Buchanan about Daniels’s missile strike against Fayed’s country and that it will be happening within the hour.

-Gredenko calls a man named Mark Hauser and asks for the upgraded security protocols for an unnamed building, giving him 40 minutes to do so.

-Hauser asks his mentally challenged brother, Brady, to access files from the mainframe of his office.

-Chloe intercepts the call Gredenko made to Hauser, discovering that his company has contracts with various chemical facilities and nuclear power plants.

-A technician, Johnson, shows Doyle the chip that the drone pilot used to really breach CTU’s security but gives it to Doyle, citing the negative backlash he could face based on his treatment of Nadia and that a favor was owed.

-Sandra Palmer is approached by Karen Hayes who asks for her consent to bring Wayne out of his coma to prevent the strike.

-Daniels is given a note from his assistant during a meeting alerting him about President Palmer being brought out of his coma.

-Despite bring threatened by Daniels, the head doctor remains undeterred in his decision to bring the president to consciousness.

-After Jack and his team apprehend Mark Hauser, Jack learns that Brady was obtaining security specs for the Edgemont Nuclear Power Plant.

-Jack briefs Buchanan on the situation saying that they are going to use Brady for the meeting with Gredenko since Mark was injured.

-Hauser calls Gredenko to tell him about his brother’s involvement in the transaction and tells Brady to listen to Jack and that he will take care of him.

-Johnson approaches Milo explaining about the evidence that clears Nadia and that Doyle hasn’t submitted it yet.

-After Milo violently accuses Doyle, Morris explains that Doyle gave him the chip for verification since he got it from an unreliable source.

-Buchanan releases Nadia and implores her to stay on despite knowing her first impulse will be to resign and file charges.

-In the hallways, Milo expresses his true feelings for Nadia before they both get back to work.

-Though the doctor advises Sandra and Karen that the intracranial swelling has increased in Wayne, they continue with their decision to rouse the president.

-Gredenko arrives for the transaction and, suspecting something is wrong, alerts his men in Russian to shoot Brady when the information is done downloading.

-Over the radio, Jack tells Brady to drop to the ground as the teams move in and apprehend Gredenko.

-Gredenko begins offering his terms for his assistance in finding Fayed saying he wants amnesty and a guarantee he won’t be returned to Russia.

-Daniels is set to continue with the nuclear strike, despite being informed of Gredenko’s capture.

-Before the strike can proceed, the sub receives orders to stand down from President Palmer.

-Palmer calls Daniels and tells him that he is resuming his duties as the president and that no action is to be taken without his direct order.

-Daniels informs those in the meeting room that he feels that Palmer is still feeling the effects of the assassination attempt and isn’t thinking clearly enough to remain in power, before calling in the attorney general.

Well, if the shit hasn’t already hit the fan this season, we’re gearing up for some major conflict now. Definitely going to be a power grab for the presidency between the psychotic Daniels and the recovering Palmer. CTU’s situation is seemingly diffused but something tells me that because it was wrapped up so quickly we could see expect some surprises there.

And Jack is looking to be heading into a showdown with Fayed after side-stepping a potential lame subplot. Safely over the halfway mark, “24” is going to be picking up some major steam towards its conclusion.

TV Recap: Lost – “The Man From Tallahassee” 3/21/07

March 22, 2007

TimeLife.com

A more haggard and depressed John Locke sits across the desk from a woman asking him his personal information. She is asking him these questions to determine if the government should continue paying his disability insurance on the basis of whether or not his condition has improved. But when he mentions that he’s stopped going to therapy saying that it’s a waste of time, his insurance is put on a temporary suspension and John walks away from his meeting.

[eminimall products="Lost, tv show, dvd" height="600" width="120"]

We return to the island where the rescue team continues to look at the Others’ community and Jack acting friendly with his supposed enemies. Rousseau, becomingly noticeably disinterested, leaves the group to go on her own. Jack walks over to a building where Juliet brings Ben out in a wheelchair and after some light chat, Jack and Ben shake hands. Kate, Sayid and Locke watch this in disbelief and admit that the situation has just become more complicated.

Sayid tries to reason with Kate, who wants to continue with the rescue plan guns blazing, telling her that Jack now may not want to be rescued. Kate doesn’t see it that way saying that the Others must have gotten to him because Jack would not forget all the things that these people did to them. On the middle ground, Locke feels that Jack must have a good reason for his newfound friendliness towards the Others’ and suggests approaching Jack alone at night to find out why.

Flashing back, John sits alone in his small apartment eating a TV dinner when there’s a knock on the door. A young man named Peter Talbot explains that he thinks his mother might be in some trouble and that he needs a few minutes to talk with him to get his help. Uninterested, John begins to close the door but changes his tune when Peter asks him how many kidneys he has. Over coffee, Peter explains that his mother was swept off her feet by a man named Adam Seward and agreed to marry him after only two months, making him very suspicious. When John asks what this has to do with him, he’s told that he donated one of his kidneys to Adam Seward, formally Anthony Cooper. Peter figures if someone gave him a kidney that he couldn’t be all that bad but John lies to him telling him it was an anonymous donation and that he can’t help him.

At nightfall, the team begins to move in on Jack’s barracks with Sayid guarding the front, John going around back and Kate going in to get him. Cautiously making her way inside, Kate hears piano music being played and moves towards it. She finds Jack in the living room area playing the piano with a deep emotional focus. Kate pauses long enough to let him finish the song before he turns around and sees her. But instead of a warm
